Essential Gear:
- Backpack: Durable, large enough for multi-day trips, with adjustable straps for comfort.
- Sleeping Bag: Rated for cold weather (0°F/-18°C or lower).
- Sleeping Pad: Insulated for comfort and warmth.
- Tent or Shelter: Lightweight, weather-resistant, suitable for cold conditions.
- Headlamp: With extra batteries for hands-free lighting.
- Clothing:Base Layers: Moisture-wicking thermal top and bottom.
- Insulating Layers: Fleece or down jacket for warmth.
- Outer Layer: Waterproof and windproof jacket and pants.
- Velcro-Capable Top: A shirt, jacket or top with the ability to put a patch on it (velcro)
- Hiking Pants: Durable and warm.
- Wool or Synthetic Socks: Multiple pairs for layering and spare.
- Gloves: Insulated, waterproof gloves and lightweight liner gloves.
- Gloves: Leather or rugged work style gloves.
- Hat: Warm beanie or balaclava.
- Scarf or Buff: For neck and face protection.
- Sturdy Hiking Boots: Waterproof with good ankle support.
- Camp Shoes: Lightweight, warm footwear for evenings.
- Extra Clothing: Dry clothes to change into for evenings.
Note: Warmth is your friend, be sure you are packing clothes that allow you to balance your body temperature but also keep you warm. Sweating can be a hazard so layers are your best path to a terrific event.
Personal Essentials:
- Water Bottle or Hydration System: Minimum 2 liters capacity.
- Water Purification: Portable water filter or purification tablets.
- Snacks: High-calorie, lightweight, non-perishable items.
- Mess Kit: Bowl, mug, utensils, and a lightweight cooking pot.
- Personal Hygiene: Biodegradable soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, wet wipes, and hand sanitizer.
- First Aid Kit: Include personal medications, band-aids, blister treatment, and basic medical supplies.
- Sunscreen & Lip Balm: SPF-rated for sun protection.
- Portable Charger or Power Bank: For electronics if needed.
- Notebook and Pen: For journaling reflections or notes.
Optional but Recommended:
- Trekking Poles: For added stability on rough terrain.
- Camp Chair or Sit Pad: For comfort during downtime.
- Extra Blanket or Emergency Bivvy: For added warmth.
